This growing family wanted to adjust their home to accommodate their developing family needs, itching to make their builder grade home tailored for their evolving lifestyle.

They approached the project looking to extend their home to have more comfortable meals as a family. They were regularly feeling squished and couldn't incorporate their extension dining table when hosting parties and holidays. Plus, the extension gave an opportunity to get a few extra wishlist items into the home.

As the design developed, the home extension also created the chance for a small study space (yellow). This nook was tucked away in a spot with ample natural light, supporting productive homework sessions. Plus, if it get's a little messy, it's not too visible to the main area.

The other exciting possibility that rendered itself was moving the original pantry (red) to the other side of the kitchen for a more spacious, walk in pantry (green).

The big personality pop is what really creates dimension and depth, THAT WALLPAPER! It's definitely a show stopper. I especially love how it differentiates the dining room as its own space and thus encouraging different interactions than the rest of the great room.

Speaking of which, the furnishings in the family room is where we leaned into mid century modern silhouettes. The warm wood tones, colorful art, and a coffee table with a smaller footprint encourages low stress play time.
