They're not overrated.
If you're like me and a bit behind on your holiday shopping this year, I get it. We just went through an overwhelming election season and I'm convinced this year was busier and more hectic than previous years. Hence, I'm feeling like I need to start making holiday shopping moves because the days are starting to count down.
I love giving gifts. It's something that I get from my mama who is an extremely thoughtful gift giver. I typically begin planning and brainstorming about gifts well in advance because good gifts take time to come up with! Each year I lean more towards giving experiences or activities rather than material goods and this year, that still rings true. I love gifting experiences and people love receiving them! In the past I have gifted cooking classes, concerts, and even a class on how to fly a helicopter! I think we all crave quality time more and more with the digital age we're living in. (2026 update: the helicopter flight pass has yet to be redeemed so maybe I was a little too confident in my gift giving abilities at the time of originally writing this)
So the question is, how do you find a good experience to give? We're all very much used to getting targeted ads for the latest tech gadget, vitamin, and clothes to stay on trend but experiences are harder to navigate. They can be expensive, you have to check schedules, and they're generally not marketed to us as often. My mother taught me, it's all about knowing who's receiving the gift.
So I'm curious, do you know anyone who is doing a home project and is feeling overwhelmed with all the decisions they have to make? Or a friend who has complained about an awkward space in their house? Maybe someone who has heard a lot on TikTok about layered, mood lighting but doesn't quite understand how to incorporate it into their space?
If someone came to mind, I have an experience they would love! I'm currently doing a holiday special where your loved one (or you) can get personalized advice for elevating a space in their home with the Virtual House Call (2026 update: this is now called the Sample). They don't need to leave the comfort of their home, they schedule their appointment, and they receive professional interior design guidance unique to their space. It's a special gift that is practical and impactful. Plus, you can enjoy their reimagined space with them. A gift that can be experienced over and over every day! From now until the end of the year you can purchase this holiday offer. And prices will likely never be this low again. There’s two price points you can choose from— head over to the website for more details.
I love offering this service because it makes interior design services approachable and have such a large impact. Happy holiday shopping! I hope it’s stress free and as fun as can be.
